HP Prime Auto Shutoff
My HP Prime automatically shuts off after like 25 seconds of not using it. It is pretty annoying, it doesn't even dim. Is there any way I can extend the auto shutoff time? Or make it dim instead.

RE: HP Prime Auto Shutoff
I think the default is 5 minutes and can be changed by modifying the value on variable TOff.

Have you checked / changed the value?

RE: HP Prime Auto Shutoff
If you plug it into a USB source, I think it will stay on, although I haven't tried this.

Something changed your value.

TOff:=1 will be out of range and reset it to the default 5 mins.

Thanks, I will try it out

Are you sure? Recent firmware versions seem to give an "Invalid input" error for TOff:=1, and older firmware versions gave an "Bad argument type" error. Inserting "#" before the 1 doesn't help either. (Home view is assumed, of course, since "#" binary numbers are not allowed in CAS).

Pretty sure Joe. It has always erred like that and just silently reset to default. If you check the value after it should be back to the default.

I just checked some old firmware versions and found the following:

Revs 6975, 7820, and 8151 do NOT change TOff when an attempt is made to set it equal to 1. Its value remains the same as it was.

Revs 10024 and later DO reset it to the default, as you say above.

So somewhere between June 2015 and April 2016, it started resetting it to the default.

... in the same context: the display of my Prime dims after a relatively short time -- can this time be adjusted too?
If, for example, you show off your brand new Game of Life or Mandelbrot Plotter program it is not nice if the display darkens while the program is running...
I cannot find anything about this in the manual (also no mention of a "TOff" variable).

Unfortunately, no. However, dimming never happens when a powered USB cable is plugged into your Prime, so at least we have that option.

I don't know if that would be effective on the Android - the charging indication is not up-to-date, so the dimming-suppression could be affected too.
