This happens with (r) too. You'll see (r). This is a weird parsing issue in MyBB it even changes the way Latex expressions are shown. The only way I could find to get around this is to put in a formatting code and it's closure between the ( and the c.

So ( [ b ] [ / b ] c ) will work (take out all the spaces).
