[Image: ende-1029b4df.png] translates "gisement" to German "die Seitenpeilung" and this in turn to English "relative bearing".

If you look at the code the difference of the coordinates of point 1 and 2 is transformed to polar coordinates.
Thus it's an angle, not a slope. But of course they are related.
