Not sure why we wouldn't. They've got production models in the hands of beta testers right now.

Minor correction: they're beta hardware models. The final production models will be subtly different.

I was just thinking of all the schedule slips and how I couldn't find any mention of it not eh Swissmicros site. I'm happy to be wrong, though!

RE: Swiss Micros announces DM42L
The reason there's no public information (yet) is because the units are still in beta testing phase!

I know what you mean! I ordered a beta unit because I know Michael takes care of his customers. His attitude is similar to that of the original founders of Hewlett-Packard who offered a free replacement for all HP-35 calculators that had an obscure math bug.

There's already a DM41L in a slightly chunkier but equally durable "Voyager" format...

That's good to know, particularly because I haven't heard any complaints about the beta hardware.

That's probably because you haven't been watching the SwissMicros forum. :-)

Don't get me wrong, people are overwhelmingly positive about the DM42 beta, but there are a few problems that will have to be addressed before production starts in earnest. And of course the whole point of a beta is to identify those problems before you start producing in quantity, when fixing them would become too expensive.

N.B. You have to register and login to see the "DM42 beta units" section of the forum; it isn't visible when you're not logged in.

Oh, well no wonder I couldn't find any chatter about it!

RE: Swiss Micros announces DM42L
DM42L is awesome!

IR not enabled yet, some minor HW issues, but otherwise an awesome machine. Certainly reminiscent of the quality level of the HPs of the past.
High praise to SwissMicros!

Only an older version:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/...blggh07zzg

Initially, Windows Phone didn't support native code, so the only way to port Free42 was to rewrite it in C#, which is how the above app was created.
Recent versions of Windows Phone do support native code, so in principle the Free42 core could be compiled for it unmodified now, but with a market share of 0.3% and falling, I'm not interested in doing the work.
