For Christmas? https://www.swissmicros.com/dm42.php :-)
It's very nice to finally see the DM42 on the list of products on the Swiss Micros site, even if it is tagged as "coming soon." I immediately signed up for getting a message when they are available.

Teasing with "wouldn't that be a nice Christmas present?" seems to indicate a pretty high level of confidence they will be ready to deliver by then. The software certainly seems mature enough by now.

Will it have the latest version of Free42 version 2.06 in it?
I can confirm that the latest firmware (v2.11.5) for the DM42 incorporates Free42 2.0.6.

The latest DM42 beta firmware is based on Free42 2.0.6, so, presumably: yes.

Great news. Thank you Thomas.
Just want to ask, does the 27th count as the "end" of November?

:-D
I see that Free42 has just been upgraded to version 2.07...I presume the DM42 will still be from Free42 version 2.06. Hopefully the DM42 will be easier to upgrade than the DM42 Prototype is...

What's wrong with the upgrade process? It has been working flawlessly here all the time. I guess there will be another firmware prior to the release, including newest Free42 as always.

No problem here apart from a QSPI update in version 2.11.5.
I'd say it's a reliable process.

I was referring to the complexity of upgrading...last time I read the directions, it was pretty complex. has it been made easier?

I don't know which directions you refer to.
  • Connect the DM42 to the PC via USB
  • On the Calc select SETUP/System/Bootloader
  • On the PC start dm_tool.exe(*)
  • Open the respective firmware file in the dm_tool.exe
  • Click "Program"
  • count to ten, and you're done
Doesn't sound complicated to me.
(*) My virus scanner prevented dm_tool.exe from starting, I had to add an exception for it (Gdata Internet security)

Of course you have to install dm_tool.exe first, with a necessary library. But this is a one time job, and also not really complicated.

That much different and far away from what the directions were...Glad to see it is much easier now.

Why do you presume that? It would be easy to include 2.07 in the shipping version of the calculator. As long as the product hasn't been packaged for shipping yet, they can update them in a couple hours.

Today I received the first of many parcels, all of the same shipment.
They all should have arrived last Tuesday, no idea where they got stuck.
Unfortunately it's rather unlikely all other parcels being delivered this Friday.
So, it'll be next week.
Do we know already the price, more or less?

Under 160 CHF ?
