FDISP Key & Fractions on 41cx
Hi,

I am new to the 41cx.

Is there a module and overlay for the 41cx (I'm using the i41cx app) that will function like a 35s or 32sii in regards to entering fractions with a decimal point and converting between the fractions and decimal values with the FDISP key?

I'm in the process of reading documentation on the calculator and the modules but it is a lot to sort through.

I appreciate the guidance.

RE: FDISP Key & Fractions on 41cx
Without doing any research, I do not remember an mcode function that would do that on the HP-41.
The "standard" way would be to use ALPHA mode to enter/display the fraction value and use the stack to enter/display the numerical values.

I do not know if it helps, the following programs are part of the PPC ROM:
  • DF : Decimal to Fraction : PPC ROM Manual, p.124 : This routine will convert a decimal to a fraction which approximates the decimal.
  • FR : Fractions : PPC ROM Manual, p.170 : This program has routines for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and reduction of fractions. Setting a flag (10) allows fractional to be displayed in the alpha register.

The excellent SandMath 4x4 module has D>F, using the same algorithm as the PPC ROM's DF, and a fraction launcher that allows simple addition & multiplication of fractions entered on the 4 stack levels. But not the a.b.c entry method of the 32SII/35S (and WP43).

Hi,

Thank you, I will look at the SandMath modules too.

I tried the PPC module and it worked well enough that I have spent all day looking at functions and modules but only got through a small number of them.

The 41cx is really amazing and the iPhone app has opened up a new calculator world I didn't know about.
