(HP41) Nov64d setup not working ("gamma" not executable)
Hello,

I have tried to make this config in attachment in my Nov64d (all is running in the emulator V41 with the latest modules from Angel and ROMs from the HP41CL internet page; the GAMMA function is in it and can be used).

Programming process of Nov64d is fine under Win10 (linux/wine was not successfull).

symptom for now: the HP41CX with the Nov64d cannot execute the function GAMMA.

I am in contact with Diego and he cannot build a functional config for the SandMath (on NoV-64d and Clonix-D).
"configurations to no avail, even with just the SnadMath and no other modules installed or loaded."

May be some users here have already find out the correct config/version set-up for this
module combinations?
Remarks/recommendations are welcome.

(that is my first try of module programming into Nov64d)

Hi Floppy,

since it is the first module you are programming, you could perhaps try to program one of the standard HP modules - just to make sure everything (the hardware) is working. Have you tried selecting Hepax 4H? I do not know by heart, but if I am remembering correctly: some module need this variant.

Note: if you are on Linux you could have a look at NutStudio.

Cheers,

Kees Jan

Have you tried the HEPAX 4H version ? ... if not, please try it.

Hello Jan,
Hello Sylvain,
I just installed NutStudio, had a look at the manual, and I am impressed. I will have a look the next weeks.
I am not programming a module, just uploading existing modules in Nov64d ( a user thing; no creativity here).

Last info from Diego: HEPAX cannot be used in parallel to LIB44 and SM44 and Advantage. Not enough pages.

Looks like the ClonixD setup in attachment has to be used (without HEPAX).
So far, with the new ClonixD setup in attachment, I can execute "gamma" but cannot execute "solve". Is the Advantage uploaded in the setup in attachment? I am not sure..

Solve can be executed in my V41 setup (in the advantage module see screen copy in attachment). But is not seen in the modules uploaded into the HP41CX. Perhaps we missed the upload of the Advantage according the setup?

If you push me, I will make the "H4 option" during a new programming (then the next question would be why I had the information HEPAX cannot be used with SM44 and LIB44 and Advantage in a Nov64).

RE: (HP41) Nov64d setup not working ("gamma" not executable)
I have reproduced your setup with the last ROM versions, coming from Monte website → rom_files_210731.zip
Downloaded the latest application package from Diego → Latest SW Update 20201016 (ClonixConfig v.6.1)
Unzip ClonixConfig zip file, then copied the ROM files (LIBRARY4, SMAT41..44, HLMAT41..44) to the to the ClonixConfig folder overwriting existing ones.
Then I started ClonixConfig61.exe, loaded the same ROMs as you, used the K149/BC-150 programmer, inserted the NoV-64d (setup as a Clonix-D) module into my HP-41CX-HN.
CAT 2 shows:
Code:
-TIME  2C
-CX TIME
-SNDMTH'4x4
-HL MATH+
-EXT FCN 2D
-CX EXT FCN
Now give me the exact instructions that you want me to do to test your issue.

RE: (HP41) Nov64d setup not working ("gamma" not executable)
Hi all,

Already commented with OP, the problem relies mainly on my lack of knowledge about the (many) new modules, their requirements and interactions.

I'm mostly a (pure) hardware guy, and the number of possible combinations (permutations?) among the increasing number of modules exceeds by far what I (anyone?) can check to verify that no compatibility/requirements issues may arise.

In this particular case, the problem is way simpler: SandMath module is composed by SandMath *and* HL Math.

I didn't know that until yesterday and therefore my previous attempts to make it work into NoV-64d failed because I only loaded SMAT41-44; hence I misled the OP for the last few days. My bad. :-(

Again, this forum is THE place to find answers. ;-)

Thanks guys!

Diego.

I tried. GAMMA still "NONEXISTENT".

RE: (HP41) Nov64d setup not working ("gamma" not executable)
Thanks Sylvian for the offer to support.
Lets go back from the start before I make more mess around.

Background:

- beginner who never has made any Clonix/Nov setup; this is the first (methodology unknown; automatic tools for setup check unknown; methodology for choosing Bnk&Page# in Nov64d not known; libraries conflict situations unknown = knowledge missing and has to be increased the next weeks and months)
- programs running in V41 with available librairies (see post #1) on a Linux 64bits PC

Hardware at hand:
- HP41CX
- HP-IL connector (& pilbox etc) in Port3
- X-memory (double) in Port 2 (XEQ "EMDIR" give 600 as result)
- Nov64d in Port 1
- PicKit2
(all tested and so far working fine)

Target: make a program, running in V41, now running in a CX; specific functions
- "SOLVE" from Advantage (in assembler) or optional "SOL" from Math (=not so quick like SOLVE from Advantage)
- "GAMMA" from SandMath44

Step1: identify the modules to be uploaded into the Nov64d (so far identified; no HEPAX possible with so much math modules)
(all below for "GAMMA"? to be confirmed)
- SMAT41
- SMAT42
- SMAT43
- SMAT44
- LIBRARY4
(below for "SOLVE"? to be confirmed)
- ADVL1-1B
- ADVU1-1B
- ADVU2-1B
- HLMAT41
- HLMAT42
- HLMAT43
- HLMAT44

Step2: identify the Bnk&Page# where to put these 12 modules

Any support for the Step1 and 2 is welcome.

RE: (HP41) Nov64d setup not working ("gamma" not executable)
STOP. No further support needed (for now).
The configuration in attachment works.
I can use my programm, I made in V41 and which had GAMMA (SandMath44) and SOLVE (Advantage), now in my HP41CX hardware with Nov64d in Port1.

So now, if you want to go into mathematic with your HP41:
- buy a Nov64d at Diego https://clonix41.org/
- use that configuration in the attachment and programm the Nov64d with it
You will be happy.
