That is true. However the soft menus work very well, and in addition you can have a custom menu, so that there is little need to type commands and functions character by character. In short, I don't miss a QWERTY layout. The TI-89T is a different story.

The 89 has to be just about the worst keyboard layout TI has ever produced. The 85 and 86 are definitely much more pleasant.
