I just tested on my android 10 tablet and it worked fine. Could it be that your phone is 64 bit architecture and has removed 32 bit support or something? The apk is compiled as an armv7 architecture for maximum compatibility.
Not sure what you mean by side loading, all you do is click on the downloaded file to install it. That's not side loading, is using the front door )
You may need to change your settings to allow installing apps from unknown sources, but that's it.
Is your phone not an arm phone? Perhaps an armv8 with no backwards compatibility? That's strange... but confirmed:
