Hmm. This suggests that you should just be able to insert standard Unicode emoji, but I just tried the one with the sunglasses, and while it did show up in the message preview, it did not show up when I hit Post Reply.

Nope. Looks like the forum turns them into question marks when you hit Post. Not a rendering issue but an actual filter.
