Thanks for all the advice I finally used a bit more force with and slowly managed to separate the front edge with the aide of a plastic card. I have managed to glue the damaged case back together with superglue gel as I could not contact the guy who is making the the 3D prints. I would prefer to replace with a 3D print or old spare so I will keep looking. The HP33C has an interesting history it was used by my Father to analyse data from the MINI roundabouts he invented back in the 1970's whilst working as a government scientist.
