So I can get an idea of this interesting device right now, even before I hold in in my hands.
Regarding making a pdf- copy of the manual:
I understand that you might not want to spend a lot of time at the copier; you could send me the manual ( I can send you a deposit for your safety ), do the copying and return it. Then we would have a pdf-file (only); unfortunately I don't have any experiences with OCR. But I guess the pdf - file can be "ocr-ed" afterwards.
