Marcel,

Your HP 67 is a late model. It has a variable resistor in the Card Reader Controller PCB (It's an square piece maybe blue or black) and one tantalum capacitor (rounded). Early models have 3 tantalum capacitors (axial).

Try adjusting the variable resistor. It controls the speed of the motor.

A little adjusting maybe can resolve the problem.

If not, you possibly need clean the head with Isopropyl alcohol or adjust the little screws that controls the switches (last step, be careful).
