Much depends on the gain (optical, coding and otherwise, along with error correction) at the RX end, along with considerations for ambient noise you may want to consider (sunlight for example?) and free space pathloss, etc..

Calculating range for communications systems often involves an estimated link budget, not just transmitter specifications.
