If the idea you think that works is never properly applied, then the idea belongs to the "fantasies" category, rather than reality. Trying to force a vague idea on reality realizing that it doesn't work and still lamenting that it can be done, is denial. The base idea may be good, but has to be reworked to be applied in reality.
