Has anyone heard from Dieter?
Dieter has not signed-in here since March, so I thought I'd check if anyone has been in touch, or knows status and that he's OK.

I sent him a PM (there is no email option) and got no reply, and though his profile shows he's from Germany, it does not specify where in Germany.

I miss his contributions and wit, and his amazing ability to always squeak out at least one more program step. I sure hope he's just off on an extended vacation or something fun.

RE: Has anyone heard from Dieter?
When I post to the Software forum(s) {in the early mornings (GMT-6)} he has been in the Who's Online listing.

Strange.

According to his profile (click on his name in any posting), it says:

Perhaps there is another user with a similar name?

I also miss Dieter, since March 12, I do not know anything about him. Does not participate in the MoHPC Forum or respond to emails. I hope it has only taken a long time to vacation somewhere in this world

RE: Has anyone heard from Dieter?

Same here, I miss a number of people who used to post frequently and now they either don't post anymore or haven't posted anything for a long while.

Some of them I know for sure (most sadly) they just passed away, others I know for sure they're feeling less and less interested in reading or posting in the forum.

The rest, I also wonder. Sad

I hadn't heard of any fellow members passing away. Who are you talking about?

I also miss Dieter's postings. Werner though is around, which is good, I guess he is my age or younger, I'm 63. Others like James M. Prange I dearly miss and have no clue what happens to them...

I was thinking about him too, miss his program suggestions. I learn a lot from him. I wish he is ok.

RE: Has anyone heard from Dieter?
Sadly, I have to report that member "Dieter", actually Dieter Lefeling, has passed away. Apparently this was just a couple months ago, shortly after his last post here in the MoHPC Forum.

Dieter was an avid photographer and also quite active in the German de.rec.fotografie newsgroup, where there is some limited information about his passing.

I'll miss his helpful and always informative posts, positive attitude and tenacious efforts to find a way to remove just one more step.

Extremely sad to know. Sad

I also found his posts most interesting and didactic, he was always doing his best to help others and, if appropriate, teach them as best he could, with inexhaustible patience and without the slightest hint of patronizing.

I hope his passing away was peaceful and due to natural causes, i.e., old age.

My most sincere condolences to his loved ones. May he rest in peace.

Best regards.

P.S.: I've just noticed he was only 54 years old. How truly sad !

RE: Has anyone heard from Dieter?
The HP-67 fun rom was his work in many respects, as he tirelessly made it better. The world has an endless supply of sadness, which is why moments of joy are so treasured.

A deeply sad event. Dieter and I had many discussions both here and privately.
He will be missed.

RE: Has anyone heard from Dieter?
Dang.

I really liked Dieter. A very cool guy, to say the least.

I'm sad he is gone but happy I got to "meet" him, thanks to the MoHPC.

One of my favorite threads that we communicated in was this one.. The formulas that he liked for converting HMS to decimal were really cool

May he rest peacefully.

So true.
How sad. Requiescat in pace Dieter.

RE: Has anyone heard from Dieter?
So sad his passing at a relatively young age. May he rest in peace.

Here is the dedicated page on German obituary site trauer.ms: Dieter Lefeling (desktop, mobile). You can light a virtual candle and leave a dedication there if you wish.
