FRAM71B-EXT_DIY file updated to V0.2 with dave's suggestion.
Yes +1!
Wonderful, I own my HP-71B since 2017 and, thanks to three CMT 32k RAM modules, I've been able to try out a lot. But there is much more possible with a FRAM71B, I would be very happy to buy one.
Just received a batch of Expansion boards from JLCPCB in Hong Kong. The new boards are 1.63mm thick (1/16") where the original boards are 1.1mm thick.

Using the alternate connector mounting, the assembly is now too tall to fit into the card reader slot.

The solution is to use the original mounting instructions or figure out why the board is too thick.

Dave
they have an option for board thickness which defaults to 1.6 mm unless you specify otherwise. will add a screenshot from JLCPCBs website so it's easier to figure out how to order the pcb.

Did any of you already order a lot of PCBs / the components and can resell single pieces of them? Larger order quantities are known to be cheaper, especially for PCB and memory.

I don't see much motivation to buy extra parts, unless you consider that the min. buy for the PCB's is 5. Still, $2 plus shipping is pretty cheap for 5 boards. The FRAM chip is about $37 from Digi-Key with a price break of $2.70 at a qty of 10. The Sullins PRPC040SFAN-RC is a cheaper connector than the Samtec, and for that matter, the connectors can be had for FREE if samples are requested from Samtec.

I could send you one of my extra boards buy for the difference in postage it makes more sense to find someone closer to you.

so, what would be your color of choice for the FRAM71B bezel?
i'm struggling to decide it, as black gives the already known appearance, while white gives you the option to paint the bezel in your favorite color and have the module's frame and writing sticking out. i've set up a poll here.

Did the design of the bezel change or can folks still use custom bezels from Shapeways?

the design of the bezel did change slightly, but the mechanical properties are the same as before. custom bezels from shapeways can still be used.

I am very happy that this is getting closer! I hope they are not all already spoken for as I am a very new 71B user and am very late to get involved with this forum.
I hope there will be a batch 4!
