Activation emails are sent as soon as you finish creating your account. If you didn't receive it, here are some possible reasons:

• Your email server is backlogged due to spam.
• Your email system may have filtered the email as spam. AOL is especially notorious for this. AOL suggests putting "account_robot_REPLACE_hpmuseum.org" (replace "_REPLACE_" with "@") in your AOL address book and AOL buddy list before pressing the "Send Activation Email" button to ensure delivery of your activation email.
• Wrong email address supplied at account creation.
• Mysterious Internet Glitch.

This page offers two possible workarounds: Resending your activation email to the same address, or changing your activation email address and sending to that new address. The former is more likely to help, if you have changed your spam settings. If your current email address appears hopeless, then you can try the second option.

Sending a new activation email invalidates the previous email. If you're using the same email address, you should feel fairly certain that you have given the first email time to pass through your spam filters because if the first email arrives a minute after you press the button below, then you'll probably have to wait just as long to receive the second one.
