[WP34S]Flash cable
Hi everyone,

I am a french calculators enthusiast and started my collection with a HP-22 calculator which i love.
I am now trying to build my self a wp34s and i am looking for a flash cable to do so.
Can someone help locally in France to flash the calculator?
Or if someone want to sell me a spare i am interested too.

All suggestions are welcome.

Many Thanks

Jeremie

RE: [WP34S]Flash cable
I just did this earlier this week. I flashed the main bin file on monday and last night I was able to send the TVM solver from the windows emulator to the 30b/34s.

I spent less than $3USD on a USB to RS232 interface cable as described here:
http://www.thereminworld.com/Forums/T/29...b-to-wp34s

i found several on ebay

those instructions worked in older windows environments. in windows 10, you have to downgrade the drivers for the interface (since the cheap cables are knock-offs) and to run MySamba as admin.

At the moment, I have a spare genuine HP cable which works with the 20/30b.

Make me an offer Smile

I'll second that -- that's the procedure I use. I run a trial of Windows 7 in VirtualBox (both free online) for the drivers to work. Note -- the calculator is very particular about the order... make sure you hold all wires in place from start to finish. If the process fails, start from the beginning. It takes me several tries and patience. A second set of hands would help. It's well worth the effort.

RE: [WP34S]Flash cable
I actually was able to use mysamba without any problems on win10, without special precautions. i have a cheap cable which does not contain a "real" ftdi but a cheap knockoff, and a few "real" ftdi cables - all of them worked equally fine. so i guess there are some cables that work better and some that are worse and need driver downgrades...

RE: [WP34S]Flash cable
I had problems with a prolific chipset cable.

But it only makes me appreciate my new toy even more.

Hi Pauli. If you haven't sold the cable yet, count my bid at $60.00 US Dollars.

RE: [WP34S]Flash cable
And if someone has another hp cable for sale (best in Europe), I'll also pay for it.

Regards.
