Many people have had problems using the old auto-update method. The HP FTP server has a two minute connection timeout, and some other strange things they've done. The problems I refer to are in the HP FTP server config and/or the auto-updater.

Because of this and the fact that FTP is blocked in many school networks, this latest version and all moving forward will exclusively use a direct HTTP connection. That should be much more reliable and less likely to be blocked.
