How to use a formula in a post

Posted by Thomas Klemm on 8 Nov 2010, 4:11 p.m.

Let's assume you want to use a formula in your post:

How can you do that?

  1. Use the equation editor to enter the formula.
  2. As a result you get the formula written in LaTeX:
    e^{i\pi}+1=0
  3. Choose URL Encoded at the bottom and copy it:
    http://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex?e%5E%7Bi%5Cpi%7D+1%3D0

  4. Insert the result in your post within an image-tag.

Egan Ford posted the following:

If you are too lazy to upload images you can use aamath for "a-text":

$ echo "e^(i*pi)+1=0" | aamath
   __
 i ||
e     + 1 = 0

$ echo "sum([n-1;r],r = 0 .. min(n-1,4))" | aamath min(n - 1, 4) ===== \ / n - 1 \ > | | / \ r / ===== r = 0

One way could be to use GIF/PNG images such as the ones HERE.
