HP 15c Unlimited Edition
Message #1 Posted by Michael de Estrada on 19 June 2013, 11:14 a.m.

Yes, I said Unlimited Edition. Although production of HP-15c Limited Edition has long since ended, there seems to be an unlimited non-ending supply of them on that auction site. I just made a quick check, and there are currently 10 different listings, including at least one with more than 10 for sale. It's as if most of them were bought by profiteers who never had any intention of keeping them, much less actually using them. I guess the silly presentation box expresses the true intent of this product.

Hey it's a free country. Supply and demand influence the number of units sold and their prices. I can say that when HP relaunched the HP-15C LE it TOO had profiteering motives!!! If this bothers anyone, then all they have to do is NOT BUY the HP-15C LE. You can vote with your wallet!

I'm not bothered at all, and I think you are missing the point of my post. The fact that there are so many for sale on the secondary auction market is backfiring on those who expected to profit from hoarding and the re-selling them as prices have moderated significantly. I bought my HP-15c LEs to keep and use or give as gifts, and didn't have to pay above list price for them. I also bought a few on behalf of others outside the USA who could not get them, and did not profit at all from those transactions.

I don't think he missed the point at all. You've posted this several times since the 15C LE was released. Yes, we know eBay buyers and sellers jack the prices up. Yes we know HP made this a limited release of likely less than 30K units. So what? If the market will bear a price, that's the price! HP could have charged far more initially and we still would have bought them. But clearly they produced enough to satisfy the limited number of people who would purchase one, and the rest got consigned to the secondary market where they have languished after the market dried up. That says more about HP and RPN than it does about third party sellers.
