HP-15C LE received in Hong Kong
Message #1 Posted by From Hong Kong on 29 Dec 2011, 4:37 a.m.

The HP-15 LE has finally arrived in Hong Kong. I bought two units. Surprisingly, the LE# of one of my units is 168XX. I start to think the rumoured limited production run of 10,000 units is a hype!

The firmware is still dated 2011-04-15. I haven't tested against all the known bugs but tried out only a few tests. As expected, the PSE bug is still here.

We've already had 13xxx numbered replacement units for US models.

What is the product number as shown on the outside plastic packaging ? Does it end with #ABA or something else ?

No, that's the serial / date code number. The product number appears only on the transparent plastic packaging for the presentation box. I expect yours to have the suffix #ABA, because you bought yours in the USA, but the Hong Kong unit to be different. You will also find a sticker with the serial number on it. BTW, that serial number indicates manufacture in mid-August, 2011 (32nd week), same as all the other units that have been sold in the USA. The only exception so far appears to be the replacement units for the ones with defective keyboards.

In case it's of any interest -- to anyone other than me, that is -- mine just came with serial # CNA1320GT5 (sounds like a sports car), LE# 08247 and product number NW250AA#ABA.

The serial number (not product no.) of mine is CNA15nnnRZ where n stands for a digit.

The 15C LE has delivered in Japan at last.

CNA15000DN, Number 16188, 2011-04-15, C 2008 hP

I confirmed that the 15C LE is damn fast.
It's 30 times faster than the triple-speed modified 15C.
