New update for Clonix and NoV's users.
Message #1 Posted by Diego Diaz on 27 Mar 2010, 9:34 p.m.

Notes on the files for the Update270310 pack.

I've finally managed to achieve some of the pending tasks in order to build a few files that improve functionality for NoV's and fix a known bug of Clonix-D.

Here are some abstracts of the included files:

- CLR_RAM1.HEX & CLR_RAM2.HEX

These files improve the RAM erasing procedure on NoVRAM and NoV-32 modules respectively.

Burn the appropriate one into your module and plug it in your HP-41 (calculator must be OFF)

After some seconds (about 5sec. for NoVRAM and 10sec. for NoV-32) your calculator will power up automatically showing a message [CLR OK ] indicating that the erasing process has been successfully completed; or [NO CLR ] indicating that the process failed at some point.

Once your RAM is erased turn your HP-41 OFF, remove the module and reprogram it as usual.

In case you got the error message [NO CLR ] turn your calc OFF remove and reinsert the module to repeat the process. Make sure that your calc is running on a fresh set of alkalines.

If the problem persist, please mail me in order to find what the cause could be.

Note that the contents of the Stack is preserved during this procedure.

- ADDRS08p.asm

This file will allow NoV-64 users to take full advantage of Geir Isene's ICEBOX1H.ROM by enabling on-the-fly RAM blocks switching. Please visit his page for details on this outstanding piece of M-code. Here.

- Clonix-D.asm

Fixes an issue reported by several users which found that the ROM blocks did not switch as they should after changing the module from an odd to an even port or vice-versa.

Install this Update by including these files (replacing old ones when necessary) into your working directory.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes from the Caribbean Sea.

Diego.

Me = Happy :-)

What's the next on the roadmap?

I have my wish list:

1. Ability to see two blocks of RAM to copy RAM pages between blocks

2. RAM2ROM for NoV-64

3. RAM clear for the NoV-64

Hi Geir,

Thanks for the feedback and support.

I must say that your wish #3 is already accomplished. Please check your working directory, you should find the file "CLR_RAM4.HEX" which will clear your NoV-64 RAM in about 22sec. showing [CLR OK ] message afterwards. Let me know if you miss that file, and I'll mail it.

Regarding wishes #1 and #2, they're both in my to-do list. Along with the mods required for NoV-32 code to handle on-the-fly RAM chips swapping, as required for your ICEBOX1H.ROM (I didn't forget that one ;-))

Cheers from Dom. Republic.

Diego.

Then all is fine on #3 :-)

Great. When I get #1, I will send you a gift.

:-)

Generous indeed from your side... any extra motivation is certainly welcome!! (not "required" whatsoever, but wholeheartedly appreciated)

You've got mail.

Diego.
