Curta calculator
Message #1 Posted by Bruce Bergman on 19 Mar 2010, 9:38 p.m.

A guy around town here is selling a Curta Type II calculator on craigslist.

Follow this link

The curious part is that he hasn't set a price. I'm assuming that this is going to go for a darn pretty penny, but I have no idea of a good price (not that I'm going to bid on it anyhow). Just a curiosity to me, but what do you think something like this is worth?

Thanks,

Bruce

I have seen these, with canister and booklet go in mint condition for 1000 to 2000 depending on the day of the week.

Found mine in a junk store in Winnipeg for $60.00 but the first digit would not increase past 8 internally.

When you selected 9 as the first digit, internally the machine would select eight. Mentioned this and the fact that these cost 400 to fix at a minumum and the seller dropped the price.

Turns out there is a screw at the base of the machine that is a shade to long when tightened. A short filing (minute amount) of the working end of the machined screw and all was working perfectly!

Cheers, Geoff

Do a search on eBay for "curta" to see what they are sold for.
