HP-41C with unusual serial number ?
Message #1 Posted by Marc Ferrer (France) on 20 Feb 2010, 11:48 a.m.

Hello,

Many years ago I got a used HP-41C (still working). Only recently, I realized that its serial number is unusual :

Instead of being stamped on the appropriate area, it's printed on a silver sticker which holds the number : 47067993. Under the sticker, no other marking.

I wonder if it's a refurbished machine, or maybe something more special...

In advance thank you all !

Cheers, Marc

Most likely the backpiece was changed.

HI;

I have one with the serial number printed a silver sticker glued in the black plastic sheet inside the battery compartment. The back case has no serial stamped on it.

Cheers.

Hello Iqbal and Luiz,

Thank you for your answers; that leads me to other questions :

Is there a relationship between these non-standard serial numbers and dates ? or more likely, in the case of a repairing process, is it just a record number used at HP servicing department ? (which would make dating more difficult if not impossible)

Thanks again for your help !

Marc
