HP-41CV retiring / HP-20b entering active duty
Message #1 Posted by hecube on 14 July 2009, 4:19 p.m.

I bought my HP-41CV brand new back in 1983. I loved this calculator so much. I was already a HP calc fan back then.

The PRGM key has been cranky for the last few years and I decided to enshrine the calculator. I have a HP-48SX I bought used for 20 dollars 10 years ago but I never felt the connection I had with the 41.

I've been looking for a HP calc that might take the place of the 41 and the HP-20b has me excited. It seems that HP has got many things right in a long long time with this model...

Well, except for the fact that it's a financial calculator :->

If they bought out a proper scientific model it might be a tad more exciting, but I reckon it needs more keys anyway.

Dave.

You won't be happy with the keyboard. No tactile feedback as you know it.

Ceterum censeo: HP, launch a 43S.

You could always take the extravagant route and pick up an iPod Touch. I understand there are some rather good 41C/42S simulators available for that and the iPhone.

I hear it can also do some other things, too. :)

I plan to get both the Touch and the HP-20b. I'm aiming for this kind of clutter:
