HP-41 w/NoV-64: Funny module conflict
Message #1 Posted by Geir Isene on 9 June 2009, 10:55 a.m.

I have the following setup active in NoV-64 (XROM numbers in parenthesis - verified by HEXEDIT addresses X000):

  ROM:
    Bank1 (Regular):
      ICEBOX (4)
      CCD OS/X (5)
(empty - cater for 8K modules)
(empty - cater for 8K modules)
  RAM:
    Bank1 (Math):
      (Hepax ram)
      (Hepax ram)
      SandMath III L (3)
      SandMath III U (2)

The other ROM-bank and the other 3 HEPAX RAM banks give me no trouble - but the above gives a loss of functionality: The additional characters available through the CCD OS/X are gone. When I Use the following setup (HEPAX RAM bank 0 active, the characters are appearing as they are supposed to:

  ROM:
    Bank1 (Regular):
      ICEBOX (4)
      CCD OS/X (5)
(empty - cater for 8K modules)
(empty - cater for 8K modules)
  RAM:
    Bank0 (Time):
      (Hepax ram)
      (Hepax ram)
      (Hepax ram)
      (Hepax ram)

Why is this?

Edit: I even tried to change the XROM numbers of SandMath III since that module is the only difference between the two setups - but the problem persists; No access to CCD's special characters (when Flag 27 is cleared).

Hi,

I don't know what the SandMath does, but maybe that ROM also catches key strokes in ALPHA mode.
You could try to load the CCD OS/X into a lower page than the SandMath.

Do the docs of the SandMath mention any extended keyboard features?

HTH
