HP-41 Flex-PCB (improving replacement)
Message #1 Posted by Diego Diaz on 8 May 2009, 7:15 a.m.

Hi all,

I think this may be useful. As I receive the last batch of Flex PCB replacements, I took a couple of them to fix damaged 41's of my own.

When I was in the point of beginning with the bending process I realized that the sharp 90º angles needed at (green) lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8 will be far more easy to obtain if I pierced the Flex PCB along these green lines. (see picture)

Using a steel pin, carefully pierced between the tracks along the lines 1, 2, 3 & 4.

And about 1mm step along lines 5 & 8.

As a result the bending process is much more easy and the final shape is achieved and kept with more precision.

Best from Spain.

Diego.
