fixthatcalc.com Message #1 Posted by David Dyte on 27 Oct 2008, 9:42 p.m. My long serving trusty 48GX has apparently given up - won't power on even with endless resets of every type, fresh batteries, 2 days waiting to see if that would help... So I am thinking I'll send it to the guys at fixthatcalc.com - the repair price is certainly right compared to getting a replacement on eBay. Does anyone here have any experience with this site? They look ok to me, but it would help to hear a nice story or two. (offers of a cheap 48GX also appreciated...) - David

I have never seen anything but positive reports. By the way, it's just one guy, Randy Sloyer. He posts here often with helpful advice. Search for some of his posts.

Do you have a good 48gx emulator that you can run for emergency use while you are finding a replacement? Also, the 50g can be a workable replacement if repair does not work out for your 48gx. I know how hard it can be to change. I have the newer calculators, but I still keep my mint condition 41cx provided with good batteries, and near my right hand when I am working. I can usually hit most of the correct buttons without looking at them. If it ever dies, I will be wounded.

It's more the sentimental value of using the same calc I was using 15 years ago. I never did get Emu48 working, though. Too lazy... - David

It took months to find a print head (not rare: impossible to find) but I had it back fully functional. This guy is a wizard and more: he's honest about prices as well as transparent giving you REAL news about your repair. If it's possible, he tells you, if it's impossible, he'll let you know as well. Given the miracle he did with my 19C, I would say you can send your little marvel with no suspicion. If anything can me tempted, he'll do. Hope this helps

Has anyone had a 97 fixed by him? I'm pretty certain the fix is beyond my very basic skills as there is a bad chip or chips in it. Mark
