Message #1 Posted by Jan Kromhout on 11 Sept 2008, 12:49 a.m.

Hello,

I received an HP50G. Wonderfull machine! To connect a serial cable you need the lib 256. When I add 256 ATTACH, and look in the APPS there is no library! The end of aps is number 12.Equat.....

How can I activate this. Anny help will be great.

welcome to the HPM forum.

best go the the 50G wiki http://hp50g.pbwiki.com/20%20things%20to%20know%20about%20the%2050g

"17) Transferring programs

Transferring programs to the 49G can be quite annoying for some people. This is usually due to two problems.

1. They transfer something and it comes out as a string “HPHP49-C...”

This means that the program was transferred incorrectly for some reason. This can happen if transferring with binary mode, instead of ASCII, or vice versa. The way to fix this is to type in this: 256 ATTACH MEM DROP ->A 26 + A-> (-> means the arrow character, r-shift 0)

A library called OT49 has this as a command called ObFx(Object Fix). I recommend you send OT49 to the calculator first, and then execute this command if you ever have this happen."

I have an HP50g with ROM version 2.09. If I type:

256 ATTACH

and press the ENTER key, then the "Development lib" shows up immediately as the last entry in the APPS list.

If this doesn't work for you, then the only possible issue I can think of is a difference in ROM. You can check the ROM by typing VERSION, then pressing the ENTER key.

I've never tried to connect the HP50g to a PC with a traditional serial cable. I've always used a USB cable, or transferred files with an SD card. No need for the development library in these cases.

Thanks, it is working now. Where can I find some documentation about this lib?

Thanks in advance

Search for "Kalinowsi" at www.hpcalc.org

"Programming in System RPL (PDF) 2nd Edition" is a general overview of SysRPL, and "Using the HP 49G for System RPL Programming" describes the tools in libraries 256 and 257
