50G involves too much learning,selling Message #1 Posted by designnut on 1 Apr 2008, 9:03 p.m. I see 50G calculators selling for under half price. I think it's a horrific amount of learning involved, leads to disappointment. Sam

However, you don't need to know everything about it to put it to good use. A little time spent with the manual will get you going. If you're not willing to spend that time, then you are correct that the 50G probably isn't the right calculator for you.

Different subsets of functions will be useful for different people, but what it does it seems to do well. I enjoy mine although I have probably used less than one third of its capabilities so far.

Isaw 3 others at auction. I paid $101 for mine at auction. I find it very foreign from RPN. I think it's too complex (different) unless you have come up through other graphing calculators. Are there any helper books not from HP on getting up to speed? RPL for dummies? Sam

It has many problems, but foremost among them is the way it continually skips around between the different modes. At best this will leave your head spinning. I recommend using this tutorial.
