Controlling emulator w/ actual HP49G?
Message #1 Posted by Jack Forsythe on 11 Sept 2006, 10:07 p.m.

I'd like to control a pc-based HP49G emulator with my actual HP49G via serial (to overcome its slowness but still have quick data entry). Essentially, I'd like to use my 49G as a keyboard for the pc-based emulator- no computations would actually be run on the calculator.

Anything out there to either do this right off the bat, or to otherwise facilitate this?

Thanks much, Jack

Well I have an idea but I am afraid it's not very fast. You can turn on the serialkeys feature in windows. This feature will accept keyboard command from the serial port. If you can program the 49G to send out the control code to the serial port you can control the emulator since I believe all features on the emulator can be accessed via keyboard.
