need help clearing display
Message #1 Posted by David Price on 24 Aug 2006, 4:22 p.m.

I don't know how I got here and I don't know how to get out. My display is showing 0.000000 00. I have tried the clearing routine that I have used for several years...g7 g8 fclx fxy frdownarrow but it seems to have no effect. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

David, can you provide more information?

What kind of calc. are you using and what were the circumstances of failure? Are you using an old calc., or is this a newer one?

More information is always better - then the wizards who hang around this board (I am not one of them) can better help you.

Beats me as to what that "clearing" routine would do...

Just set it back to all factory defaults.

  1. Turn it off
  2. Press and hold the "-" key
  3. Press and release the ON key
  4. Release the "-" key
You should see "Pr Error". Turn it off and back on and it will be back to 0.0000.

You probably clicked a hyperlink to

Press the browser backarrow to get out. :-)

Ditto what others said about providing useful information...

It kinda sounds as though you're using an HP-12C. "f 5" (for example) will set five decimal places. "f ." is what set scientific notation.
