Noob question about the stickers on back of HP Classics:
Message #1 Posted by Alan Firth on 30 Dec 2006, 3:37 a.m.

I've got two Type 2 HP35's (The one that says 'Hewlett Packard', not 'Hewlett Packard 35') and a 'Type 1' HP80 ('Hewlett Packard' on the front)

The instruction stickers on the back say 'HEWLETT-PACKARD HP-35 INSTRUCTIONS', 'HP 35 INSTRUCTIONS', and 'HEWLETT-PACKARD HP-80 INSTRUCTIONS' respectively.

None show any evidence of label-switching or other repairs.

Any ideas why the instruction labels reference the calculator number (35/80), when supposedly these numbers hadn't been 'invented' yet? Thanks.

by the time of manufacture of your 35-calculators, the 80 was already in the makings or planning - only the very first 35s (red dots) lack this model number. *But* - even prototype PCBs shortly before production show the 35 part number, so the 35 was more likely a project name at firstī...
