HP-12C 25th Anniversary
Message #1 Posted by Antonio Maschio (Italy) on 8 Dec 2006, 4:53 a.m.

I want your impression:

I received my HP-12C 25th at last, so now my 12C park is so composed:

HP-12C 2001 (CN) -> currently one of my everyday calculators
HP-12C 2006 (CNA)
HP-12C 25th 2006 (CNA)

all built in China.

I believed the CN 12C had hard keys, before receiving the CNA version! Boys, if they are hard to press!

The 25th Anniversary version, on the contrary, has keys so smooth and pleasant that I want to ask: anyone has ever used an original USA model? Were its keys smooth like this one?

Thanks.

I haven't used a US made 12, but I have used both the 15 and 10. Compared to the 12CP, the keys of the 15 and 10 are still smoother. They have a silkiness that is hard to describe. The 12 does not do them justice and has aged rather better than most HP's, but shows more recent "improvements" to the keyboard.

My 12 sometimes misses keystrokes, and is directionally sensitive on the push. Sometimes an angular push on a key will "click", but won't register.

I have the US version. The keys are the same as for my 15C and 16C (also US versions). Easy to push.
