hp71B does not get off
Message #1 Posted by inaki on 29 Dec 2005, 7:38 p.m.

I have a 71B that seems to have a problem when replacing batteries. After I place the new batteries I press ON. The 71B does not start at first time so I must press ON several times and then it goes up. However, if now I press f+ON to put it OFF the 71B does not get OFF but stays in an indefinite situation: the arrow prompt stays in the display, although the machine cannot be used (there is no keyboard answer). I must press ON several times to put the 71B finally OFF. I have tried to INIT from 1 to 3 and have tried to discharge the circuits by pressing ON for 30 seconds with batteries removed, but nothing works. Anyone knows what is hapenning here ?

I suspect that the ON switch contacts need to be cleaned.
