Blanknuts
Message #1 Posted by gifron on 29 Nov 2005, 1:35 a.m.

Okay, I haven't used my 41CV on a regular basis for years, and can't remember much. I've recently acquired a halfnut blanknut. What's the easy way to tell if it's a C, a CV, or a CX? It has no HP label, no back label (says, "MADE IN SINGAPORE"), and a 2823S SN. Thanks!

Hello,

After a memory lost with

ON BACK ARROW

1) To check if it's a Cx, Type

XEQ CLOCK

If you don't get NON EXISTENT, then it's a Cx.
If you get NON EXISTENT, then it's a C or CV, proceed to step 2)

2) Type

XEQ SIZE 319

If you get TRY AGAIN or ARE YOU JOKING? then it's a C.
If your command is accepted and you get back to the number display, then it's a CV

Best regards from France!

Etienne

Interesting easter egg there, Etienne. I don't think I've read about that one. 8)

You must be joking, of course. 8)

Yes Howard, It was just a little joke :-)

But I think it's harmless to the whole testing procedure.

I just hate the "TRY AGAIN" message which was put there as if just another try could help solve the problem...

Maybe "PAY AGAIN"( for more mem modules), "DELETE MORE" (useless programs that clutter memory) or even "SQUEEZE CALC" (to re-establish the 41 electrical contacts) would have been more appropriate.

All the best :-))

Etienne

Thanks, Etienne. It is a CV.
