HP 33S Battery Life

How long are the lithium 3V cells (CR-2032) supposed to last "on average" in a 33S? I've had mine for less than nine months and it began to shut off during use and the battery annunciator was displayed.
After I replaced them, I did check the old cells with a meter- they were depleted. I am just surprised that it did not last over a year.
And, I'd say, mine doesn't see heavy use, rather, just slightly heavier than moderate use... whatever this means.
