PRx on HP-41CX
Message #1 Posted by Michel Beaulieu on 10 Feb 2005, 5:34 p.m.

Hi, just a little easy :

Why is there tree stars *** print at the end of the line when executing PRx?

Can i tell the calculator not to print these ***.

It looks like :

15.0000 *** 36.0000 ***

I get this even with HPil printer and even with double wide printing.

Thanks Michel

Not sure, but I think it's a relict of older cashier or adding machines...
but maybe the printer manual could clarify this?

Try VIEW X instead...

NORM or MAN mode, flag 21 accordingly.

It always prints those stars when printing a result, as opposed to a number you just entered: in that case, it prints the command in that position.

For example, when the printer is set to TRACE, and the display mode is set to FIX 2, and you enter 2 ENTER 3 +, the print-out will look like this:

             2.00 ENTER
             3.00 +
             5.00 ***

No, but you can work around it by using code like CLA, ARCL X, PRA (instead of CLA, fill the alpha register with 24 spaces if you want the number to be printed right-justified).

Thanks for all your tips!

I try the last one and it works great. I also try VIEW x and do the job too..
