Free42 conduit crash
Message #1 Posted by Thomas Okken on 17 Jan 2005, 8:15 a.m.

Hi all,

There turned out to be a bug in the version of the Free42 Conduit that I released yesterday, which would cause it to crash (and take down HotSync manager with it).
There's a fixed version on my web site now; install it by first uninstalling the old version, then installing the new version (you can do both steps using the same installer). Or, just drop Free42Conduit.dll into the Palm directory and restart the HotSync manager manually.

My apologies for the inconvenience!

hey Tom,

Don't apologize for doing a superb and dynamic job please ! :) I took a look at the new version yesterday, and I have never seen a developper as committed as you are. You are too nice to make your program Free... I guess it would cause some technical problems to rename it ? ;)

Thanks a lot and cheers for the good you are doing to the HP community !

Thomas,

Yes for sure I don't think you have to apologize. We all are very happy with the great job.

I have a question !

I presume since I only have installed the .prc file I don't have to install the update, isn't it?

Only people who installed the *.ZIP file have to update. Correct?

Thanks, Michel

That is correct.
Note that with version 1.1.1, I'm bundling the PRC and the conduit, but installing the conduit is still optional -- and any bug fix that affects only the conduit can be safely ignored by those who only use the PRC.

Actually, I've renamed it before! I first called it Fake42, which is still evident in the 'Fk42' creator ID for the PalmOS version. I renamed it Free42 the day I first released it -- thought it sounded a bit nicer. :-)

Maybe once I have everything from the 1.2 wish list implemented, I'll publish a shareware version... Cheap42? Naw, don't like the sound of that either...
