HP-82164A & wire
Message #1 Posted by Jon on 9 Jan 2005, 4:05 p.m.

Hi:

I want to build a serial wire with the 25 pin connector on the interface side and the standar 9 pin on the PC side. I have read Tony Duells´article and also a recent thread in this forum, but it is not clear for me. Does anyone have the schematics for that connection?.

Thanks in advance

Jon

Dear Jon,
I'm using a 25 to 9 pins adapter ;o)
but the RS232c signal lines supported in the HP82164A are the following ones :
PIN	SIGNAL	DIRECTION (HP82164-device)
2	TD		->
3	RD		<-
4	RTS		->
5	CTS		<-
6	DSR		<-
7	SG		<->
8	DCD		<-
20	DTR		->

On the device, replace the 25 pin config' by the 9 pin :
25 pins	2   3   4   5   6   7   8   20
9 pins  3   2   7   8   6   5   1   4
Yours.
Emmanuel

Hi Emmanuel:

Thanks for the fast answer. I am waiting for the interface and I would like to hawe the wire ready when I receive it. I understand that I must connect a wire like this:

25pins(HP82164A side)--------9 pins(PC side)

2------------------------------------3

3------------------------------------2

4------------------------------------7

5------------------------------------8

6------------------------------------6

7------------------------------------5

8------------------------------------1

20-----------------------------------4

Is it right?

Thanks again

Jon
