Deluxe Leather Case for Voyagers
Message #1 Posted by Chris W on 18 Oct 2004, 1:40 p.m.

This is the really nice fold over flap leather case. Does anyone have the old inserts that came with the 15C, or a really old educalc catalog, that had prices for this deluxe case for the Voyager calculators? I'm just curious how much they cost back then.

I believe they sold for $19 ea IIRC.

My wife bought a couple direct when they discontinued them for about $3-4 and kicked herself for not buying more. I certainly wished she had also.

There were two sizes, one for the Hp19b/28s series which also fit the Hp95/100/200 and a slightly smaller one that loosely fit everything else ie the Pioneer and Voyager series.

Owning both, I can confirm and add that they also came in two different colours: black and burgundy. Maybe it's because of the leather case that my 28s is still going strong...

I don't think we are talking about the same case. I have a 15 C in one, while it isn't a tight fit, it is a very good fit. I just tried to put my 42S in the same case and the thickness fit isn't near as good because of the taper of the 42s case, and the 42S is way too long for the fold over flap to tuck in the little strap. Also $39 sitcks in my mind for some reason, but from 1985, who can remember that far back?

Altogether, HP had three sizes of leather cases: approx. 88x135x19 mm. for the 15C series; 82x154x20 mm., with slight taper, for the 42S series; and 98x164x22 mm. for the 28S series. Also three colors: black, brown, and burgundy. The HP 1987 retail price was $15 for the smallest size and (as Ron says) $19 for the largest.

In the same series there was also a nice case - with strap - for the IR printer.
