32S probably dead
Message #1 Posted by David Ramsey on 15 Oct 2004, 1:01 a.m.

I was recently checking my calcs and discovered that the entire rightmost vertical column of keys on my 32S is non-responsive. Everything else on the calc works fine.

Flexing the case doesn't seem to have any effect.

I 'spect this means it's toast, but thought I would check here first...

Two years ago I bought TWO HP-32S from eBay. BOTH had that problem!!! I ended up selling them from parts. I think it's a model problem.

Yes, it's a desgin issue but it's usually quite repairable. Most times it's the pressure pad on the keyboard connector that has gone soft. Sometimes dirt can cause problems.

48's have the same issues since they are just a bigger Pioneer.

Lots of threads here on how to repair. See Paul Broggers Pioneer internals piece in the articles section for how to open.
