HP-67 card reader
Message #1 Posted by Jon on 13 Oct 2004, 12:47 p.m.

Hi:

I have replaced the gummy wheel to one HP-67. Now it writes but don´t read. I read some time ago that sometimes we have to replace the blue capacitor. I have done it using one 4.7uF as spare part, but nothing changes. Contacts´alignement seem to be ok and everything is clean. Any idea? Can I use spare parts from a 41 card reader?. I mean motor, and head

Thanks in advance

Jon

Well, if you replaced the proper cap then the next thing to try is to make sure that all three leaf spring switches are closing and opening in the proper sequence. Trace them to the connector pins and monitor the signals (to ground) with an ohm meter while manually inserting and removing a card (do this with no power on)

Hi David:

I have done it and it is clear that all three leaf spring switches work properly. I have several HP-41 card readers and I see that most parts seem to be the same (motor, head, ICs). If neccessary I could use one of them as source for spare parts.

Regards

Jon
