HP17bii Trigonometry
Message #1 Posted by Charles on 6 Oct 2004, 6:10 p.m.

I've bought a 17bii and programmed in the trigonometric equations in the posting by Bruce Maguire. I've got the SIN+ COS to work along with the ATAN but I can't get past INVALID EQUATION with the ASIN and ACOS. It's probably my typing but after nearly a week, I'm going nuts. I've tried to contact Bruce but the email address was rejected.

I've noticed that there are a couple of oddities (typos ?) in the listing and wondered if anyone could help ?

There seem to be 32 "( " but only 31 " )"s and there are two "=" where they should be ":"'s (?). My ability to programme the 17Bii is very limited so thanks for any help from someone who has got this to work.

Regards Charles

I did this a few weeks ago, so I'm not completely sure what I replaced. But start with the = in the L and G functions converting them to :. Then I think "or" needs a space before and after. If this doesn't make it work just ask again. Perhaps I find out, if I have changed anything else.

Charles:

I agree with Josef. I just entered the equation into my 19BII and it works, so the parentheses match up as is.

Josef, Bob,

Thanks very much. I now understand what happened, I typed the programme in from a printout which had left the last three lines off ! Once those went in, the ")"s balanced and it was fine. It was good to know that someone else had been successful.

I recently bought a new HP17bii with Let and Get and would like to enter trig functions too. You refer to trig functions posted by Bruce Maguire, but you give no clue when he posted them and where (in this Forum?). Searching the Forum for articles by "B Maguire", "B. Maguire", "Bruce Maguire", or for items with "17bii" and "Trigonometry" does not find the posting. Help! Thanks, Wlodek
