95 LX battery problem
Message #1 Posted by alan DT on 17 July 2004, 10:34 a.m.

Just dragged my old 95lx out of a box. Within minutes of putting in new batteries it indicates "MAIN BATTERY LOW". What can I do??

I´m familiar with the LX100/200, but assuming that the 95LX is similar enough, there should be a coin-shaped lithium battery, apart from the regular AA batteries. The lithium battery backs up the memory contents while the AA cells are discharged or just out while being changed.

The lithium battery should last at least 2 or 3 years, it seems very possible that yours may be discharged.

If this is the problem, the message should be more like "Backup battery low", since "main" refers to the AA batteries; but perhaps there is some interaction between error conditions, causing the "other" message to appear.

I hope this may help you.
