HP41 "Terminal Blocks" - where Message #1 Posted by Jim Creybohm on 22 Mar 2004, 5:46 p.m. I am looking for a (possibly two) battery terminal blocks for my 41's. I read on this board a while back about someone who re-builds/re-furbishes them, but I can't find it anywhere. I have also tried to re-build the terminal blocks using HO connectors from the local hobby shop (little brass tabs that darn near fit on the end pieces), and I have it working, however it seems to be a stopgap solution. I would prefer something more permanent. Anyone know who does this, and how much? Or point me to an article that has good diagrams on doing this so I don't butcher the poor 41 anymore than I already have. 12345

HP41 battery connector repairs Message #3 Posted by Randy Sloyer on 22 Mar 2004, 8:28 p.m., in response to message #1 by Jim Creybohm AFAIK, the brass cap solution was David Smith's solution for corroded battery terminals, he did offer it here in a post many moons ago for $20 or so. It works very well, it's easy to do and does not wear out like copper foil solutions. I don't see it as a stop-gap solution, it will probably out last the calculator as a repair. It of course does not address damage beyond the four battery points. Once the port connectors or the main logic board connector are damaged, it's toast. Repair is pretty much out of the question. Buy a used C or CV, rob the connector and resell the rest as it is now about the only way to get a replacement. Edited: 22 Mar 2004, 8:29 p.m.
