HP48GX black screen????
Message #1 Posted by George on 7 Feb 2004, 4:35 p.m.

I have both versions of the HP48gx, one with the newer "high contrast" black on gray screen, and the older version, blue on green screen. I like the newer screen much better. So when I heard that the HP48 was going to be discontinued, I ordered a new one as a back-up from Samson Cables. But without opening the sealed plastic contanier and installing the batteries, how do I KNOW that it has the black screen?

The background color of the screen when off is a good indication. Compare each of your two previous units side by side to the new screen through the blister pack.

You should be able to tell what you received since you have reference colors from the older units.

After looking at it myself, I asked my son which two screens looked to be the closest in color. He chose the same one I did, which has the black on gray screen. Now I am reassured. THANK YOU!
