Sanyo Cadnica N-50AAA
Message #1 Posted by Juergen (CH) on 26 Nov 2003, 5:01 a.m.

To rebuild HP-41 accu packs, you can use Sanyo Cadnica N-50AAA cells. You can buy them in Switzerland at www.distrelec.ch for CHF 6.20 per cell. As David Smith already mentioned, they are somewhat too small, but that's no problem.

The 82120 packs already dump a fairly high charge current into the cells (15 ma). The 50 maH NiCad cells may tend to overcharge. I would use NiMH cells with a 150maH capacity.

Which type of cells do you use (brand/type)?

I have always had good success with NiCad batteries made by Tadiran, an Israeli company. However, the ones I was buying were full-sized C cells and D cells. I don't have any information on "N" sized or 1/3 "AAA" cells. Can someone else confirm this information on this company?

I use Gold Peak 16AAAM - 1.2 Volts, 160 mah. Rated for 16ma charge, 16 hours. Perfect match, they need some filler to take up the remaining volume in the case. 1/16" double sided foam works well to hold them in place.
